To mark America’s 250th anniversary, Professor Chad Alan Goldberg is leading an informal reading group in the Fall 2026 semester that will discuss Robert N. Bellah’s book, The Broken Covenant: American Civil Religion in Time of Trial. The reading group is hosted by the Department of Sociology and generously supported by UW–Madison’s Center for the Study of Liberal Democracy. The reading group is open to all university students, faculty, and staff, and copies of the book are available free of charge. Please see the attached flier for the schedule and further details.
