Kathryn Lofton Professor of Religious Studies, American Studies, and History; Chair of Religious Studies; and Deputy Dean for Diversity and Faculty Development at Yale University gave a talk on campus on October, 16th, 2018.
Professor Lofton is one of most exciting voices in Religious Studies today. Her book, Oprah: The Gospel of an Icon (2011) looks at contemporary spirituality via the multimedia world of Oprah Winfrey. Consuming Religion (2017) analyzes religion and its relationship to consumption via examples ranging from the Kardashians and Goldman Sachs Group.
